Today’s Oncologist Visit

During last month’s visit my Onc said options were limited for treating the new growth on my liver. My choices were the study drug TK1258 or Vinorelbine (Naveltine). Because I don’t qualify for the study drug ... Vinorelbine is it.

Back then I didn’t have the courage to ask the Onc what he meant by… limited options.

Today I asked the question. How many options do I have left? He said if Vinorelbine fails, I will be put on compassionate care.

I asked if I could try DCA and he said he would look into it.

I'm so sorry, Daria, that you doc is saying "limited options". Keep us tuned about the DCA. You are in my prayers.

oh Daria - that so sucks - what is DCA please?

I am sending you as many good vibes as my head can broadcast. And hugs - some days I wish I was a praying person. But you know what I mean anyway. I was so upset reading your post, then I thought "she can do it". And you will. Beat this.

Daria - Sometimes we don't want to know the answer, but we have to ask the question anyway. I hope you'll see some improvement with the treatment. My thoughts are with you.

I'm sorry for that news, but you keep on fighting the good fight. You never know what's around the corner.

Some doctors are using DCA or Dichloroacetic acid to treat cancer.

Here is their website: http://www.thedcasite.com/

Damn it! "Limited options" are still options, and new study drugs come up every day. You hold on tight, Daria. I'm gonna walk all the way with you.

Awww Daria....I don't know what to say. Other than that sucks! Well, I am praying that the Vinorelbine does its magic and all will be well. Love and hugs to you, my friend.

Daria, I have not known you for very long at all, but it does not change the amount of prayers I am sending you.

I am hoping that the Naveltine works. Meanwhile new agents appear all the time including the DCA you investigated. I can't imagine what you are going through.

Oh, Daria. That news must have been so hard to hear. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. We were told that Ron was out of options. Then we went to a regional, research cancer facility. We found out there was something else to try before clinical trials. There are new drugs coming out all the time- so don't give up hope. KEEP THE FIGHT!
You go, girl.

Have you asked for a second opinion? There MUST be other options to try...after all, there are so many chemo drugs for breast cancer! I'd ask for a second opinion and see what a different oncologist has to say.

Keep kicking butt Daria! Thinking of you.
