Fatigue Is Setting In

Last night's sleep was atrocious ... up till about 1:30 am and then slept till about 5:15 this morning. Yik! Those steroids really screw things up.

Today I'm going to head out and get a few chores done before the worst of the chemo side effects hit me this weekend.

Looks like some nice weather out there ... hopefully everyone is enjoying the same.

Too bad we don't live closer, we could keep each other company on the sleepless steroid nights. If I was nearby I would play a lullaby on my harp for you:)Hope sleep comes tonight my friend.

Hi Daria - which steroids are you on (and are there any alternatives)? Glad you're weather has improved, ours here in Winnipeg slowly is too. I'm trying to get out to walk every day whether its raining or not.

Hope you feel better soon!

Beth,

Decadron (Dexamethosone) is the steroid I am on ... I don't know if there are alternatives ... good question for the oncologist.

Dexamethasone!!!!! How horrible. That is what they had TJ on and he hardly slept at all and in turn neither did I of course. Battle on Daria, Battle on

I take the same steroid for the first few days of chemo (sometimes longer because it helps with the nausea). My doc gave me Ambien to help me sleep. He gave me a small dose so I can take 1 or 2, depending on what my need is. If I need the steroid later in the week, I just take 1 in the morning. Some days I just need the boost it gives me more than the sleep!!
Take care!

I call that my steroid high. I take decadron the night before chemo and the day after chemo I'm flying high. At least I get a few chores done and out of the way before the next "down" days. Bless you.

Thanks Daria, I see that I will get that one for the last 3 treatments with the Docetaxel. Keep us updated if you do find alternatives!

I talked to my GP about this - the oncology team weren't very interested - and he gave me a prescription for Zopiclone which I took on my steroid days. it's a different kind of sleep with sleeping tablets.... but at least it's sleep!

I'm also taking this drug... i have noticed i have had a headache after taking it. Among the nausea and the rest I don't need a headache on top!
Oh and the fit full sleep at night waking up in the morning feeling like a bag of junk

Take care Daria.

Sorry to hear that... I am the opposite, when I remove my chemo bottle, I sleep for two days...
I hope you feel better soon.
Stay well , thinking of you
Maybe would be a good idea to take small naps during the day to get added much needed rest.
