Shout Out To Cleaning For A Reason

As taken off their website ...

Fighting cancer is difficult enough, living with it is even tougher…that’s where the Cleaning For A Reason Foundation steps in. Cleaning For A Reason is the only national non-profit in the country providing FREE, professional housecleaning services for women undergoing cancer treatment. The Foundation, organized as a Texas Non-Profit Corporation, is raising money to provide more help for more women everywhere.

The Foundation was officially formed in May 2006 as a Texas non-profit corporation. The only criteria for a woman to be accepted into the program is verification of treatment for cancer. The Foundation extends this help to all women undergoing cancer treatment.

Cancer patients are encouraged to visit www.cleaningforareason.org and fill out the online request form for services under the “cancer patient” link. 50 applications are accepted Monday through Friday at 12 noon Central Time. Not all areas are serviced. Partner locations are located under the "locations" link on the website.

It's a nice thought but you have to fill out their form, get your onc to sign it and then they'll let you know. As it turns out, my region was serviced but they couldn't fit me in during my time in chemo. YMMV with them.

Daria,
Chemo's always a struggle, isn't it? Thinking about it, taking it, hoping to feel better more than we feel worse. I'm hoping today finds you feeling better.

I had the same problem Found them in an ad in the Oncology out patient bulletin board.

I also contacted the Maid service that was listed for my city and I was told they fit you in if they can but regular customers take priority.

I wasn't too impressed When the lady came to my home she pointedly let me know that they would normally charge $75.00 per hour and more if there was extra work

I hired someone else from an ad from the newspaper. ....

I had my sisters with me through out my treatment....thank heaven as being on my own I just don't know how I would of managed. I was too sick for a couple of months to even do laundry let alone scrub a floor. You know I should be helping others now that I am better.....I was always able to drive to the Cross, shower etc., keep myself clean but perhaps because my sisters were with me I took advantage as they did all the cooking and cleaning......I think it is time I gave back.....hope you are feeling better my friend, I think of you often....:-) Hugs

Awww sad to hear it didn't work out for some. I just suggested this to a co-worker going through chemo, my mom heard of them from a lady she works with. Maybe I should just volunteer to help her clean myself, probaly easier and I know the job will be done well.
