The Truck Ride

Yesterday we dropped my car off at the dealership for maintenance. D’s vehicle is a ¾ ton truck and can I tell you ... it felt like the seat was a mile off the ground. When we first dropped the car off, I was just able to hoist myself up into the passenger seat ... those grab handles came in handy.

We then headed over to Office Depot to look at backpacks with wheels for school. I’m finding I don’t have the strength to carry school books and laptop. In front of the store and in front of everybody, I couldn’t get into the truck. I had worn myself out walking through the store. D had to get out of the truck, come around the passenger side and boost my butt up into the seat ... not a pretty sight.

On the way home we then stopped for a nice supper at Moxie’s Restaurant where we sat on the patio. It occurred to me that D parked too close to the front of the restaurant and I would be embarrassed getting in the truck in front of all these people. Our plan was for D to drive a couple of parking rows down away from the front of the restaurant and use the truck as a shield and get in on the opposite side. Again, another boost was required to get me in.

Did I mention I’ll be glad when I get my car back today?

Lol, what a cute story. It gave me a good laugh. Even if I am not tired I have trouble getting into a truck.
Have a nice day Daria :)

My mom uses one of those plastic step stools to get into my brother's pickup. Course, someone has to pick up the stool and put it back in the truck. LOL.

I'm amazed that you have the strength to go to school. My brain just couldn't have handled that when I was on chemo this past spring. But on the other hand, I did a lot of Bible reading sitting in the recliner. Perfect opportunity!

Now I had to laugh! For I have been there and done that so many times! I rode the motor wheel chairs, been pushed in wheel chairs to shop for Christmas by some wonderful ladies who are wives of the employee we had at the time. I have driven in 4 years. How I miss it. I driving just a little now, but that will go after surgery Oct. 21. I love that you are getting out and so glad your tumors are holding, as mine are at this moment. You should have asked about Singular, for it will not make you sleepy as benadryl. I got many dentist appointments in the next few weeks, mine can't see as I need so I doing it all with two different Dentist for one said I could not get in for cleaning until November. Too late! I start with a new dentist in the morn. I have a few small cavity, first in five years. I going to wish after surgery I had a laptop! lol Hubby says not! I have one but will not keep a battery up and its old. Keep getting out sounds like you are enjoying it!

Oh good grief!! I would find it hard enough to get into that truck even with all my strength. But when you are so fatigued?!? You needed a step ladder!!! You will be so glad to have your own car back!!!

And Moxie's...mmmmm...I love going there!!!

Too funny. I drive a 4 wheel drive truck with a lift kit and TJ now complains about getting in and out of it where he never used to. Sometimes it is the struggle with the little things that can be the most irritating.

You definitely need that step stool. But it was a funny story.
